So I’ve finally surrendered the GoDaddy hosting and pointed the site to WordPress – so to provide at least a brief update. Here’s where things are as of May 2023
EV: Still have the incredible 2017 Tesla Model S 75D and love driving it as much after 4 years of ownership as the day I test drove it. Now at 49.5k it brings a smile to my face every time I drive and there is NO other car I would swap it for. I charge it about once every 10 days using the unlimited free supercharging I acquired with the vehicle.
Solar / PV : So last year I expanded your Solar PV rooftop install up to 40 panels and just under 9 kWp of generation power. Record day so far has been 55 kWh – outstanding.
Heat Pump Trial: Well the initial heat pump with those awful Climaventa fan rads turned out to be under-sized; however the new 15 kWh heat pump and the triple panel standard rads are SPECTACULAR
Battery Storage: Taking advantage of the 0% VAT cut when installing Solar Panels this has expanded to 2 x Tesla Powerwall 2 with Backup Gateway 2 giving us about ~27 kWh of storage and is total awesome
Hot water: The brilliant 250L Mixgery Cylinder was joined by a 300L cylinder connected to the heat pump – both are fully heated during the 4 hour Octopus Go period every night
Bills: We now import between 50-60kWh of cheap off peak energy leveraging Octopus Energy Go tariff at 7.5p per kWh so whilst we may have had one bill of £300+ in December 2022 – our direct debit of £150 remains unchanged and as of May 2023 we ended the winter £400 in credit.
